Pir Zia's New Zealand Visit - At Sharda 18 June 2008

After the ceremonial Powhiri in the late morning, we all had lunch together at the Centre. After that Pir Zia and his family took a walk to see the Sharda property accompanied by Sharda elders.
They went down the path that led through the Sacred Wood of native trees.
And through the native bush of tree ferns....
After saying prayers at the site where the Sharda Universel will be manifested one day, they came to the Peace Pole. It was here that Pir Zia proposed that an exchange of stones be made between the Abode and Sharda so that the Universel there and the Universal here be linked.
The photo above also shows Samantha Jade, Halima's great-granddaughter, playing the recorder at the Peace Pole.

ORIGINAL IMAGE OF THE PEACE DOME

Here is the original image of the Peace Dome we hope one day to manifest at Sharda. It was the focus of Halima's Vision and Reinhart Kanuka, a close friend of Halima and a well-known New Zealand architect who focusses on bio-harmonic design drew this for her in December 1999. Halima had copies of it put up all over Sharda. This is the copy of one she pasted on the inside of the door of the seldom-used wood stove in her cottage.
It will one day be used by people of all colours, all ages, all faiths for worship, music, song, dance and drama. This practice of love, harmony and beauty thus leads to Peace, hence the Peace Dome. See the bottom of the page if you want to help.

Working Bee 24 May 2008

It was our Working Bee today. We had glorious weather, clear skies, a beaut of a late Autumn day. We worked as hard as these fellows below:
There were Jamila, Hakim, Sirrallah, Maimunah, Rachman, Habibah, Rose, Radar, Alim, Aliah, Trish, Julia, Shafia, Elizabeth and Anit. It was a good time to meet and greet.
Picking up rubbish...
Cleaning the accommodation block...
Getting down and dirty
No sitting on the job...
Cleaning windows...
Walls, floors, toilets, etc.....even the bird bath
Mowing the Temple site
Like I said, not sitting on the job...
Until the place looked neat and tidy.
Everyone doing a job and knowing their place..
Well, we worked hard and had fun and satisfaction doing it. We enjoyed the camaraderie: meeting, talking, sharing meals, pruning plants, mowing grass, clearing rubbish, wiping, vacuuming, sweeping, washing, scrubbing, dancing in the evening and finishing the night by watching a video of Halima together. Many are even staying over and carrying on tomorrow.

Dedication Service and Unveiling of Halima's Memorial on Sunday 28 October, 2007

The morning started with a light shower of blessing, as on the day of the funeral one year ago. After the Dedication Service at the Centre, an urn holding Halima's ashes was carried by Annie Bottcher down to the Sacred Grove. About 50 people, led by Jamila and Eila, followed her down the Temple Road and made a winding walk round the Temple Site to the Memorial at the edge of the Grove. The unveiling was done by the youngest members and the ashes put in by the eldest. After shared lunch there was a sharing of memories followed by Dances of Universal Peace.

New photo of the funeral

I recently caught up with Kapil Arn, a professional photographer friend of Halima and of Sharda. Yesterday, he passed me the photos he took before and during the funeral. Here is one of the new photos.
